The Demolition Man had a debut to remember
On the biggest stage in mixed martial arts, former Pacific Xtreme Combat Flyweight Champion Jenel Lausa (7-2) displayed his uncanny power for 15 minutes, scoring a decisive unanimous decision win (30-27×3) against Zhikui Yao in the opening bout of UFC Fight Night 101, Sunday morning at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
“I want to thank all of my family, my wife and son, my team, my fans, everyone who has always supported me in the Philippines and around the world,” the 28-year-old said. “I am especially thankful to God for this blessing.”
A dominant second round by Lausa paved the way for the emphatic victory. The Iloilo-native knocked the Chinese fighter down to the canvas with a huge head kick that would have finished any other fighter. Yao though survived the kick and a number of powerful punches, surviving a tight guillotine choke after the head kick.
Again Lausa continued his furious pace, knocking down his opponent multiple times in the final round.
“This win is going to be the first of many, and I hope to get more blessings, more fights and hopefully I will eventually get to the belt,” Lausa added.
