It was a bad night for Filipino bets during BRAVE CF 47: Asian Domination.
Rolando Dy and Jenel Lausa suffered tough losses, Thursday night at Arad Fort in Bahrain.
Dy’s defeat was painful, losing via a corner stoppage before the start of round three against Abdisalam Kubanychbek in a lightweight title eliminator.
He walked back to his corner, refused to take his mouthpiece, and shook his head. He then quit before the third round began.
The embarrassing loss snapped Dy’s two-bout winning streak, dropping his record to 14-10-1, while Kubanychbek improved to 17-2.
He had a blazing start, connecting on stinging jabs against his Kyrzgz opponent. However, it was Kubanychbek’s ground game that made the difference.
In the second round, Kubanychbek negated Dy’s forte by constantly taking his opponent down and employing some old-school ground and pound. It forced Dy to call it a day during the break.
On the other hand, Lausa had a forgettable debut in the Middle Eastern promotion. He fell to Ryskulbek Ibraimov via a lopsided unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
After a frustrating first two rounds, Lausa went for broke in the third round, almost knocking his opponent down in the third round. Ibraimov was then able to recover with a huge takedown to close out the round.
Lausa fell to 7-6, while Ibaimov rose to 19-8.
