Johnson says lifetime ban ‘unfortunate, devastating’, hopes for forgiveness

Tropang TNT import Ivan Johnson apologized for his actions during TNT’s match against Meralco last Saturday night and posted to Twitter Sunday his statement about what happened over the weekend.

“I am truly sorry for the role I played in the events of night’s game and the devastation and disappointment I have caused all of you,” Johnson wrote to his fans.

Johnson also thanked the league for allowing him the chance to play, and noted the importance of being able to experience playing in the Philippines.

“It meant the world to me to be able to bring my family with me so we could experience all of this together,” Johnson wrote.

Johnson continued by stating the lifetime ban was “unfortunate” and “devastating” to him, while hoping for forgiveness.

“This lifetime ban is truly unfortunate and devastating to me being that I feel at home most and welcomed when I am here playing in the Philippines. I do want to sincerely and most humbly apologize to Commissioner (Atty. Chito) Narvasa for my actions in last night’s game. I ask that you forgive me. Thank you.”

The posts came after Johnson tweeted these two posts last night amidst getting banned:

The question now is if the league will do an about-face and lift the ban imposed on Johnson.
