Sibol MLBB, led by members of the Bren Esports team, swept their way through the Southeast Asia qualifiers to secure their place in the 2023 IESF World Championships Asia + Oceania Qualifiers on Tuesday.
They completed their impressive campaign in the Southeast Asia qualifiers with a 3-0 sweep of Cambodia in the Grand Final.
Sibol started the grand final series in dominant fashion, finishing off Cambodia with a massive 18-3 annihilation in the kill tally.
However, Game 2 was a different story as they had to mount a deep comeback, relying on a sneaky split push courtesy of Marco “Super Marco” Requitano (Beatrix) in the 21st minute to turn back a 22-11 kill deficit and reach match point, 2-0.
In Game 3, Cambodia once again took the lead in the early going, posting a 4-0 kill spread as early as the 5th minute. Still, Sibol turned up the heat after the first lord fight and allowed Cambodia only three more kills while taking 12 to clinch the series by the 19th minute.
The grand final sweep mirrored their group stage campaign where they also blanked Myanmar (2-0) and Vietnam (2-0).
Sibol and Cambodia will represent Southeast Asia in the Asia + Oceania Qualifiers in July, to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where they will face six other representatives from Central Asia, East Asia, West Asia, and South Asia.
The top five finishers among the eight qualified teams for the Asia + Oceania Qualifiers will earn a berth in the IESF World Esports Championship 2023 in Iasi, Romania, scheduled from August 25 to September 3, 2023.
