Hosting the world’s first-ever Super Quest, Chooks-to-Go made sure to give the executives of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the 12 participating teams a world-class introduction.
Friday evening at the Grand Ballroom of Crowne Plaza in Quezon City, the country’s premier 3×3 organizer treated the guests for the first-ever Chooks-to-Go 3×3 Asia Pacific Super Quest to a lavish welcome dinner.
Serving as the guest of honor for the night was none other than FIBA 3X3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez, who was amazed at the pageantry of the event.
“We’ve been impressed with what Chooks-to-Go has done over the last five weeks,” shared Sanchez. “I’m impressed that with such short notice, they’ve been able to put up a nice event held in so many SM malls.
“I think it’s very good, lots of energy. Hopefully, this continues.”
Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 league owner Ronald Mascariñas vowed that he will continue to help rack up FIBA 3×3 points for the country by organizing more local and international tournaments like this.
“Last year, the SBP asked us to help promote 3×3 basketball, as it is now an Olympic sport. We studied what we can do and we consulted to FIBA,” disclosed the president of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. “To paraphrase a well-known statement, we came to a point where instead of asking what the country do for our company, we asked, what can our business do for our country.
“We now have one team that will play in the World Tour. Mr. Sanchez, we are now back in the game and now we are here. After a successful first conference, we are honored to host the first-ever Super Quest,” he continued as the Pasig Grindhouse Kings become the first Philippine team to play in the World Tour since 2015.
“I would like to thank Alex Sanchez and Fei Gao for trusting to host this tournament. We promise that we will have many more to come.”
Spicing up the night were surprise numbers from the 12 participating teams, including home squads Pasig Grindhouse Kings and 1Bataan Risers; and special performers Janice Javier and Apl De Ap, who performed his hit singles Bebot, Where Is The Love, and I Got The Feeling.
