Bulacan DF notched its second win in as many games after routing debuting Mindoro, 106-84, on Saturday in the National Basketball League Chooks-to-Go Season 2021 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Dominick Fajardo scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Earnest Reyes had 22 points and seven rebounds, and the Republicans grabbed the early lead in the team standings with a 2-0 win-loss record.
The Republicans gained headway after outscoring the Tamaraws, 32-20, in the third for a 79-61 advantage.
Rodel Vaygan led the way for Mindoro with 29 points and eight rebounds.
In the second game, Quezon debuted in the NBL with a 109-85 wire-to-wire victory over Zamboanga.
The Barons led, 89-56, at the end of the third after scoring 39 in that quarter.
Alex Ramos led the way for Quezon with 21 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting from the field with nine rebounds, two assists, and a block.
Dominick Vera and Chris Lagrama added 18 and 17 points respectively as they combined for nine of the 12 three-pointers made by the Barons. The former also had seven rebounds while the latter scattered six rebounds and six assists.
JC Luciano was one of the silver-linings for the Valientes, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.
Mindoro goes up against Zamboanga at 4 p.m., while La Union takes on Laguna at 6 p.m. in Sunday’s match aired live over Solar Sports, NBL-Pilipinas Facebook and YouTube, and SEAG Network.
