Abra Solid North battered undermanned Mindoro, 104-82, on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to a record 26 games in the Manny Pacquiao Presents MPBL 2025 Season at the Robert Estrella Sr. Memorial Gymnasium in Rosales, Pangasinan.
With the victory, Abra surpassed the previous mark of 25 straight wins it once shared with Nueva Ecija and closed the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament with the league’s best record at 28-1.
It is a new all-time best in Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League history and the top slate in both the North Division and overall standings.
Encho Serrano, John Uduba, and Dave Ildefonso led the charge as the Weavers gave head coach Yong Garcia yet another victory.
Serrano finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Uduba tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds. Ildefonso delivered 21 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.
The Weavers put together a decisive 15-point run to break the game wide open, eventually pulling away at 96-71 before cruising to the win.
Mindoro, despite missing several key players, dropped to 15-14 but still held on to the eighth seed in the South Division.
RJ Ramirez scored 17 points, while Ethan Galang added 15 and Marion Magat chipped in 14. Homegrown talent Hanz Philip Maycong contributed 12 for the Tamaraws.
The Weavers held a slim 47-44 halftime lead, thanks to Uduba’s 19 points and Ildefonso’s 15.
But the Tamaraws, powered by Ramirez and Magat, briefly managed to tie the game at 42 before Abra’s firepower took over.
Opting to conserve energy for their crucial play-in matchup against Zamboanga Sikat on October 4, Mindoro sat out starters Ino Comboy, Bam Gamalinda, and Joseph Sedurifa, as well as role player Jeco Bancale and veteran Ken Bono.
