Basketball fans compete for NBA 2K17 PS4 Asia Tournament qualifiers

Every year there are a few things that basketball fans in the Philippines eagerly await. The start of the UAAP / NCAA basketball seasons so they can cheer for their favorite schools; the beginning of the NBA season every October; and of course, the release of the yearly iteration of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation series, NBA 2K.

Last September 23, 2K’s latest NBA game, NBA 2K17, was made available for purchase at retail and online vendors worldwide. Much to the glee of the thousands of basketball fanatics in the Philippines, they will be spending almost all of their free time playing their favorite team or creating their own character in My Career.

“We’re thrilled to deliver an even more ambitious and authentic basketball experience in NBA 2K17,” said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts. “Both new fans and NBA 2K veterans will have the most comprehensive experience in our franchise’s history, starting with an unparalleled My Career showcase placing gamers throughout a unique and compelling storyline.”

This year, My Career is all about being in control of your created character. Your path is determined by your on-court performance and career decisions, which will lead to different outcomes through an immersive new narrative featuring Michael B. Jordan.

The most exciting experience about every NBA 2K game, however, is going head-to-head with other people as you control your favorite NBA teams.

2K realizes the popularity of basketball here in the Philippines, and so they will be holding a qualifier for the NBA 2K17 PS4 Asia Tournament here in the Philippines. The first leg will be held on October 15 and 16 at SM Southmall, then the second and final qualifier leg will be conducted during the E-Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) on October 29 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex. The top 4 players from the 2 qualifier legs will then return the next day on October 30 for the semifinals and finals of the Philippine Qualifier. The NBA 2K17 PS4 Philippine Qualifier champion and runner up will represent the country at the NBA 2K17 PS4 Asia Regional Finals in Taipei early next year.
