B.League: Kiefer’s heroics dampened by Shiga’s OT loss to Kyoto

Kiefer Ravena provided the heroics in regulation for Shiga but the rest could not follow suit in overtime, bowing to Kyoto, 96-102 in overtime, Saturday in the 2021-22 B.League season at YMIT Arena.

With 20 seconds left and the Lakestars up 88-87, Ravena committed a five-second inbound violation that led to a Kazuki Hosokawa trey with 12 seconds left.

The former NLEX Road Warriors made up for it by draining a smooth floater with 0.3 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

The Lakestars though lost steam in extra time, going just 2-of-9 from the field for just six points.

Yoshiaki Kubota, meanwhile, scored six in the Hannaryz’s 12 point endgame spurt to seal the win.

Kyoto went up to 10-29 while handing Shiga its ninth straight loss. The Lakestars fell to 10-25.

David Simon had a big game for Kyoto with 32 points and 10 rebounds while Justin Harper also got 25 points and 10 rebounds. Kubota also ended up with 20 points and eight assists.

Kiefer Ravena once again was the high-point man for Shiga with 19 points laced with nine assists.

In his first game for Shiga, Worth Smith got 18 points. Novar Gadson, Sean O’ Mara, Teppei Kashiwagura, and Reon Shibuta all had 12 points apiece with Gadson also producing 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The two teams square off again tomorrow.
