With a chance for redemption this year, Fil-Am Nation Select will have to face a UAAP champion once again.
Set to go against Tebol Garcia and Adamson University on Sunday, 17-year-old Andy Gemao only had two words to say.
“No pressure.”
With this confidence, the NCAA Season 99 Finals MVP credits his teammates for their swift journey to the Finals.
Despite not playing with the likes of Terrence Hill, Dylan Victorio, and Kainoa Patton before, Gemao has blended well with this batch of Fil-Am.
“Para sa akin, siguro mas seasoned ‘yung team from last year, kahit na one week pa lang kaming magkakasama, may immediate na bond at chemistry kami,” the guard from Veritas Academy National Prep shared.
Additionally, he says this chemistry and bond can be seen both on and off the court.
Right after their win, Gemao was seen celebrating with his teammates referencing a popular short clip saying, “Where my hug at?”
He acknowledges the attention he has been receiving at the 2024 Smart NBTC National Finals, saying it’s what all players aspire for.
“Siguro in a way, masaya, kasi ‘yun naman ‘yung sina-strive ng players, maging noticed. Focused pa rin ako sa mga goals sa buhay.”
Apart from the NBTC, the former Letran Squire has high hopes to continue pursuing his dreams abroad.
“Hopefully, I can go back to the States, sa team ko, at doon ako mag-start ng career ko, sa goal ko,” Gemao concluded.
