Defending Philippines Football League champions United City endured a 3-0 loss at the hands of Melbourne City, Monday evening at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Thailand, in the 2022 AFC Champions League group stage.
Melbourne broke the deadlock in the first half. The A-League side was able to score the opener thanks to Stefan Colakovski, who shot past United City stopper Matt Silva at the 34th minute amidst an opening 45 minutes that saw them hold close to 65 percent possession and have nine attempts to score.
Come the second half, 20-year-old Australian forward Marco Tilio scored a brace to give Melbourne a commanding advantage in the contest. The 5-foot-5 player finished a fine passage of play at the 59th minute and he then put the ball at the back of the net anew at the 75th minute.
