Acaylar hints at bringing Bagunas to Imus-ITP

Imus-Ivy Tuason Photography head coach Sammy Acaylar hinted that ‘one of the best players in the Philippines’ will suit up for the AJAA Spikers in the ongoing 2023 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

Acaylar said that they expect the player to play this conference but there is still no timetable for his arrival as he is still playing overseas. He, however, confirmed that the player already said ‘yes’ prior to the Imus’ game against Air Force

“Kaka-say yes lang niya ngayon. One of the best players in the Philippines,” said Acaylar after the AJAA Spikers clinched a 25-16, 25-16, 25-13 win over the Airmen at the Paco Arena.

“Kung [kailan] darating, hindi ko alam pero umoo na siya today na mag-lalaro siya sa Imus and we the management will sched kung kailan siya pupunta because of laro niya sa ibang bansa,” said Acaylar.

So far, Bryan Bagunas is the only Filipino volleyball player playing overseas. He is currently in Taiwan playing for Taichung in the Top Volleyball League.

Bagunas last played in the Spikers Turf during the 2019 Reinforced Conference where he led the Jet Spikers to the finals but bowed to Cignal.

When asked if he is referring to Bagunas, Acaylar gave a short but clear response: “As I said, one of the best. I mean, the best pala siya ngayon.”
