Foton sweeps Sta. Lucia to enter semis

The Foton Tornadoes overcame their errors and the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, to book the last 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix semis ticket at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Last year’s bronze medalists, Foton coughed up 30 errors to Sta. Lucia’s 17. But the Tornadoes more than made up for their wasteful play with tremendous offense, scoring 46 attack points to the Lady Realtors’ 23.

“There were a lot of close calls throughout the match. I’m just happy we were able to power through our mistakes,” said Foton’s import Chanon Thompson who piled up 26 points from 24 attacks and two aces.

“We’ve got to get better. We have a few more days to work on our chemistry. We need every bit of help we can get from everyone, especially against the defending champs,” the American reinforcement furthered.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 11 points for Foton, who debuted two UP Lady Maroons fresh from the UAAP season in Tots Carlos and Isa Molde.

The Tornadoes take on the reigning champions F2 Logistics in Game One of the best-of-three semis on Saturday.

Ukrainian Bohdana Anisova topped the Lady Reators with 14 points.
