Coronel, Asis lead way as only four remain in Galeries rebuild

The rebuild at Galeries Tower continues.

Last Saturday night, the Highrisers officially announced that they have parted ways with 13 players — more than half of their roster — and six members of their coaching staff, less than four weeks before the start of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

Topping the list of departures are Fhen Emnas, Carly Hernandez, Dimdim Pacres, Andrea Marzan, Juliet Catindig, and Ysa Jimenez, all of whom had been with the team since its league debut in 2023.

Jimenez, along with France Ronquillo, two of the team’s leading scorers, have already signed with Capital1.

Other players leaving the roster include Dodee Batindaan, Audrey Paran, Lia Pelaga, Ivy Perez, Marian Andal, and Shannen Palec.

On the coaching side, head coach Godfrey Okumu — who took over from Lerma Giron during the 2025 Reinforced Conference after serving as her assistant — will be departing, along with assistant coach John Subiere, physical therapist Glen Marc Toledo, and statisticians Miguel Vinarao and Angelo Dela Paz.

Clarence Esteban will take over as head coach, with veteran coach Rommel Abella serving as his assistant.

Only four players remain on the roster: 2025 PVL Draft second overall pick Jean Asis, Alas Pilipinas standout and former third overall pick Julia Coronel, Roselle Baliton, and Winnie Bedaña.

The team is expected to announce its new signings in the coming days.
