As it turns out, Creamline Cool Smashers ace Alyssa Valdez will no longer play for the remainder of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
In a statement circulated through social media, Rebisco, Creamline’s mother company, cited their commitment to local volleyball and the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc.’s mission to regain the Philippines’ international volleyball supremacy.
For this to happen, Rebisco felt it necessary to preserve Valdez’s health to have her in top form for the National Team’s campaign in the AVC Seniors Women’s Championship next week and the Southeast Asian Games later this month. More than anything, Rebisco expressed their full support for Valdez’s goal of representing the country.
“Alyssa’s good health takes priority over the company’s interest,” the statement read.
“We just want to make sure that Alyssa gets to fulfill her dream of representing the Philippines in the upcoming SEA Games.”
The Cool Smashers, who have won their last three elimination round matches without Valdez in the lineup, begin their best-of-three semis against the Bali Pure Water Defenders campaign today at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
