In what will go down as one of the best matches in league history, the Petron Blaze Spikers reclaimed the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Crown, completing the Finals sweep with a five-set win Game Two, 26-24, 24-26, 24-26, 25-22, 15-11, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Each of the first four sets came down to the last few points. Needing to extend the match, Petron weathered a late F2 Logistics rally. With F2 Logistics cutting their four-point lead down to one, 23-22, the Blaze Spikers received a clutch off-the-bench point from Carmela Tunay to arrive at set point. Another conversion from middle blocker Remy Palma sent the match to a fifth set.
From there, the Blaze Spikers with Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Bernadeth Pons keeping the Blaze Spikers ahead. A spurt of bad receptions cost F2 Logistics dearly as Petron converted three straight points that opened the winning thre-point margin, 10-7. The Cargo Movers mustered one last rally, tying the match at 10 after an Aby Maraño slide. Reception problems again caught up with the Cargo Movers in the final stretch, with an ace from Ces Molina breaking their spirit and giving Petron a 14-11 lead. An F2 Logistics net violation ended the PSL season.
Season MVP Aiza Maizo managed 14 points while UST standout Cherry Rondina was magnificent off the bench, pulling in a team-high 16 points.
Petron regained the All-Filipino title which they last won in 2015.
Ara Galang towed the Cargo Movers with 20 points while Maraño added 14.
