Manila Central University unleashed a massive fourth-quarter assault and completed a come-from-behind 67-65 victory over Diliman College to remain atop the UCAL-PGFLEX Linoleum 7th Season standings, Saturday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Supremos displayed unwavering resolve, turning the tide with a scorching 16-2 run to erase a double-digit deficit in the final frame and secure their fifth win in six games.
Seanne General led the charge with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Mark Joson stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and five steals for the Supremos, who trailed for most of the contest.
MCU was still down by 13, 55-42, early in the payoff period before a Joson triple ignited a massive run that propelled the Supremos ahead, 60-59.
Another 9-4 surge extended MCU’s lead to 67-61, which proved enough to fend off a late rally from the Blue Dragons.
In the other game, University of Batangas overwhelmed the Philippine Women’s University, 91-56, to keep its winning streak alive.
The Brahmans broke the game wide open in the second quarter, outscoring the Patriots 26-11 en route to their fifth win against two losses.
