Megabuilders squashes Gamboa Coffee for third win

Towering over their foes, the Megabuilders Volley Bolts outclassed the Gamboa Coffee Spikers, 25-23, 25-11, 25-16, to remain undefeated in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Except for serving, the National University-powered Megabuilders demolished the Mapua-backed Gamboa Coffee in every scoring category. The Megabuilders tallied 14 blocks to Gamboa Coffee’s three and allowed just 19 errors to the Coffee Spikers’ 28.

“Masaya naman kami sa nilaro namin. Siguro may mga detalye pa kaming kailangan ayusin. Siguro kanina sumabay lang din na hindi masyadong maganda ang nilaro ng kalaban namin. Siyempre, ang goal pa rin namin mag-improve,” said Mega Builders assistant coach Dong Dela Cruz.

Six-foot-six middle blocker Kim Malabunga led all scorers with 12 points off seven attacks and five blocks, while high-flying open hitter Fauzi Ismail managed 10 markers.

The Megabuilders improved their record to 3-0 and will face the IEM Phoenix Volley Masters (1-1) on July 15 at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Mapua alumnus Pemi Bagalay had just eight points, while Sam Damian provided six.

Gamboa Coffee (0-2) will try to pick up their breakthrough win against IEM on July 12.
