No celebration tonight for newly-crowned Best Import Rhodes

No celebrating like he’s in high school for Best Import Charles Rhodes

Moments prior to the Finals’ Game Four at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum, Charles Rhodes, along with his San Miguel Beermen teammates, was at center court, proudly hoisting the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup Best Import plaque.2017-PBA-Commissioners-Cup-Awarding-Ceremony-Best-Import-San-Miguel-Beermen-Charles-Rhodes No celebration tonight for newly-crowned Best Import Rhodes Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

But around three hours after the bout, the Beermen’s festive mood was no longer found. SMB may have had two of the mid-season conference’s top performers, but all of the hype faded as they lost to the TNT Katropa, 102-97.

As a result, the best-of-seven series is now tied at two games apiece.

“That’s not a good game for us,” lamented the 31-year-old Texan, who finished with 22 points and eight boards in the loss. “We just gotta go back and look at the film, see what our mistakes were, and try to learn from it.

“Everybody made mistakes. Everybody.”

Making it an even more sour night for Rhodes were the calls against him. Aside from garnering four personal fouls, the six-foot-eight forward was ejected with 1:08 left to play, as he was whistled for his second technical foul.

As the final buzzer sounded and with the Beermen on the losing end, the outspoken journeyman did not hide the pain he felt.

“It really hurts, man. It really hurts,” admitted Rhodes.

“This loss is probably our worst loss this year — definitely man. It really hurts. This one really hurts.”
