Bali Pure skewers Air Force for fifth win

Coming from a heartbreaking loss last Thursday against Pocari Sweat, the Bali Pure Water Defenders leaned on their imports to bury the Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers in straight sets, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Jet Spikers had no answer for the Bali Pure’s dominant import duo of Thai open hitter Jeng Bualee and American middle blocker Jennifer Keddy.

Bualee, who has campaigned in the PVL in numerous prior seasons, tallied 16 points. Keddy dominated the net with 19 points, incuding six blocks.

Bali Pure head coach Roger Gorayeb felt his team had needed to win like this after losing to Pocari Sweat in devastating fashion.

“Mahirap kasi matalo ng ganoon na alam namin na malaki lamang namin. Kaya pina-relax ko lang sila. Hindi masyadong pressure kasi ayoko na dagdagan pa ‘yun sa kanila,” said Gorayeb.

“Good thing we were able to win. Makakatulong ‘to sa confidence namin moving forward,” the outspoken mentor declared.

Bali Pure led right from the first point, never trailing out of the first technical timeout. The Water Defenders tallied 45 spikes to Air Force’s 24, and 10 blocks to the Lady Jet Spikers’ two.

The Water Defenders remain second in the standings with a 5-2 record.

Jocemer Tapic led Air Fore with just seven points.

The Lady Jet Spikers settle at the bottom of the league with a 1-7 record.
