Bali Pure keeps Valdez-powered Creamline struggling

Total team effort and capitalizing on their opponents’ miscues powered the Bali Pure Water Defenders over the Creamline Cool Smashers in a four-set affair, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 28-26 for their fourth Premier Volleyball League win at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

“Ang trend o-all kami tapos iiwan kami tapos o-all kami tapos iiwanan ulit kami. Hanggang all lang kami. Yun ang trend nakita niyo ang first set ganyan din ang score, deuce-deuce din. Second set, talo kami. Third set, ganoon na naman napakahirap hindi ko sila maitindihan,” said Bali Pure head coach Roger Gorayeb after the rauckus back-and-forth.

The Water Defenders claimed the match through solid play when situations got tense. The Cool Smashers gave up leads in the first and fourth set after consecutive errors on reception and attacks, mistakes Bali Pure limited.

“One miss you die yun. Ako naman may fifth set eh buti sana kung ang set na yun kapag nanalo sila talo na kami, yun ang mas mabigat para sa amin. Pero yun may chance pa kami. Ang laki pa ng chance namin. Buti na lang gumana ang block, umayos ang set ni Jasmine, si Sato ang mga quick. Nag-connect na sila ni Jas eh,” added Gorayeb.

Jerrili Malabanan continued her breakout season, scoring 15 points while Risa Sato added 16.

The Water Defenders improved to a 4-1 record.

Three-time league MVP Alyssa Valdez managed a season-high 27 points while Pau Soriano’s 15 markers also went in vain.

Creamline’s revorc plummeted to 2-4.
