Valdez respects Creamline and National Team decision

Since she was in high school, Alyssa Valdez has always willingly represented the country in whatever volleyball tournament she was needed to join.

Recent circumstances, however, have led people to question her commitment to the Philippine Team-

Valdez will not be participating in the Clash of Heroes fund-raiser event on Monday after her club team, Creamline, did not give her permission due to the on-going PVL Reinforce Conference.PVL-Women-Creamline-vs.-Power-Smashers-Valdez-8657 Valdez respects Creamline and National Team decision News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

Philippine Team head coach Francis Vicente has already expressed his dismay at Valdez, saying that he may cut the three-time UAAP Most Valuable Player from the lineup if she does not continues to no-show National Team events.

The Batangueña insists that she still wants to play for the flag and country but, given the current situation, she has to respect her club’s decision.

“It’s a decision of the club din,” the 23-year-old said after Creamline’s five-set win over Air Force.

“They’re trying to protect all the players under them which is super nice. It’s a really tight schedule from the beginning din naman.

“Supposedly, mas maaga ‘yung sched ng game. Medyo na-adjust siya ngayon and meron din tayong commitments na iba tulad ng Creamline. If given a chance naman, you’re gonna give your best if makakapag-try ka for the National Team,” furthered Valdez, who played for the Asian U23 team.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagles also pointed out that Creamline and Rebisco have been nothing but supportive of the National Team. In fact, Rebisco is the name sponsor of the PSL All-Star team that will play in the AVC Club meet in Kazakhstan.

“I mean, Creamline and Rebisco really try to help the National Team. Siyempre, sa kanila nagsisimula na sa sponsorship pa lang. Hindi naman nila mamasamain kung kailangan maglaro ng players nila. But I think i iisip nila ‘yung kapakanan ng players nila,” the open hitter added.

For now, Valdez ever respectful of whatever Vicente decides or what other people think about her.AVCU23-PHIvsKAZ-Day-2-Alyssa-Valdez Valdez respects Creamline and National Team decision News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

Still, she remains a willing participant if the National Team should call upon her.

“Hindi mo rin naman maiiwasan ‘yun. It’s other people’s opinions. But if you’re gonna ask me kung ‘yung commitment rin lang sa volleyball itself, I think I really wanna play no matter what happens,” Valdez said.

“So let’s hope for the best and pray for everyone. Let’s pray for the National Team.”
