In the past, Rain or Shine management has been open to loaning players to the national team as its commitment to help the Gilas Pilipinas program and do service for the country.
The Elasro Painters management has loaned four key players — Gabe Norwood, Jeff Chan and later on Paul Lee to help the national team’s campaign in major international tournaments.
Two of the four players, Norwood and Chan, have already committed to play if ever their services is needed.
“Absolutely,” Norwood told media on the possibility of returning to play for the next batch of players representing the national team. “I will play regardless of who will coach the team as long as he wants me there.”
Norwood gained world attention because of his highlight reels. His in your face dunk over NBA player Luis Scola was one of the biggest highlights in the FIBA World Cup.
Chan, on the other hand, is one of the team’s top shooters. He didn’t hesitate when he was asked if he wants to serve the national team anew.
“Oo naman lalaro ako as long as hindi in conflict sa PBA schedule,” said Chan.
“Sana magkaroon ng mas mahabang rest and more preparation para hindi ganun ka-hectic sa schedule,” he added.
