Frustrations boiling over for Padda, Lady Falcons

As everyone knows, Adamson University Lady Falcons head coach Airess Padda has the toughest job in collegiate volleyball.

Beneath the bright lights of the UAAP for the first time, Padda has been trying her best to get the most out of the struggling Adamson squad. The Lady Falcons, however, have stalled mightily, slumping to their ninth loss of the season.

In their latest defeat, Padda’s frustration reached its peak. Adamson let a 9-5 lead slip in the second set against the Far Eastern University. Trailing 9-11, Padda called a timeout where the cameras caught her and her frustrations.

“Do your f——- job!,” she told middle blocker Joy Dacoron.

Her rage was warranted. At the end of the match, Adamson only had 17 points off their scoring skills.UAAP-79-FEU-vs.-AdU-Dacoron-0359 Frustrations boiling over for Padda, Lady Falcons AdU News UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

The young mentor admitted that she had immediately felt remorse and apologized to Dacoron for her words.

“I actually apologized to Joy for cussing at her, I didn’t mean to. But I’m very frustrated, disappointed,” Padda said.

“I feel like they did better against NU. We had a great week of practices, hard training, I thought we were kind of building on that momentum, and we showed up here today and it’s like we just took 10 steps back.

“I just felt like we worked too hard; we worked too hard for them to show up to the game and not give 110 percent. They weren’t treating the match as if it was a match. They’re treating it like it was some tune-up game. I think that’s how our season has been going and I was very frustrated and it came out at the wrong time,” the American coach furthered.

With most of the roster playing different and demanding roles, Padda knows that it will take time for the Lady Falcons to shape up.UAAP-79-FEU-vs.-AdU-Galanza-0298 Frustrations boiling over for Padda, Lady Falcons AdU News UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

“It doesn’t happen overnight. Rome wasn’t built in a day so it’s gonna take time. I do believe that they are stronger, mentally, than they were in June. I believe that everyday they are getting better with building their mind, but it’s inconsistent,” she insisted.

“We do a lot of mental activities, we do a lot of sports psychology stuff, and the trainings are really hard.”
