Lady Altas pounce on Lady Knights, get third straight win

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Lady Altas clinched their third consecutive victory after finishing off the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights in three sets, 29-27, 25-15, 25-21.

Lourdes Clemente paced the resurgent Perpetual squad with 13 points off 11 spikes and two blocks. Jhona Rosal also registered 13 markers for the Altas in 10 attacks, two aces, and a block.

Aside from Clemente, Bianca Tripoli likewise led the Altas’ 42 attacks with 11 of her own.

The Lady Knights were not to be outdone in the first and third sets, as they got outside hitter Glayssa Torres firing. The Letranite ended with 11 markers to lead the Intramuros ladies.

Team captain Coleen Bravo admitted that the team had really expected more at the start. She shared, “At first talaga, siyempre, nakaka-down, kasi first game namin ang goal namin, panalo agad. Pero ang nangyari, hindi maganda yung start ng season namin.”

“After nung dalawang talo namin, sabi naman kailangan naming makakuha ng panalo para bumalik yung confidence,” she added. “So yun, nung nanalo, tinuloy-tuloy lang namin. Tingin ko nga mas gumanda, mas gumanda yung communication sa court, naging maganda yung jelling.”

The Lady Altas (3-2) hope to extend this run when they resume the eliminations on January 12 next year against Gretchel Soltones and the rest of the undefeated Lady Stags (5-0). For their part, the Lady Knights (0-5) will try to upend their rivals San Beda Lady Red Spikers (4-1) on Wednesday, December 14.
