Mika Reyes hailed as new PSL ambassador

Mika Reyes took the reigns from a fellow La Sallian, and was hailed the new Philippine Superliga ambassador in a press conference held at the Diamond Hotel in Manila, Tuesday afternoon.

The three-time UAAP champion has become the third PSL ambassador, after Gretchen Ho and Cha Cruz.

“I’m very happy, very excited. Hindi naman lahat ng players nabibigyan ng chance maging ambassador ng PSL,” Reyes told Tiebreaker Times.

The ambassador is considered the face of the league, often bannered by the league during big events.

Replacing a fellow La Sallian and F2 Logistic teammate, Cha Cruz, Reyes says she has already gotten a heads up on what to expect from the PSL veteran.PSL-Images-Mika-Reyes Mika Reyes hailed as new PSL ambassador News PSL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Sabi niya lang na mag-eenjoy ako and she wished me luck,” she said.

2016 has been fruitful for the Bulacan native, who capped her UAAP career with a title along with earning her new PSL ambassador tiara.

With the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship just a few months away, Reyes could still fill one of the five remaining spots on the PSL All-Star team, but she stresses that she is not expecting to be included in the roster.

“As of now, siyempre may iba tayong plans,” Reyes remarked of the possible selection. “Hindi naman sa hindi ko ini-aim ‘yun. Alam ko na may iba rin na deserving para sa position na ‘yun.”
