Lady Falcons left in flux with Meneses’ impending resignation

UAAP Season 78 has been rough for the Adamson University Lady Falcons.

The emotional toll is apparent for every member of the team, especially in every post-match interview.

The stress, apparently, has been too much to bear for Sherwin Meneses, who announced Thursday that he is stepping down from his head coaching post.

According to reports, the mental toll has been too much, and he now simply hopes that the Lady Falcons can move on and perform better.

Meneses has been involved with Adamson volleyball for nearly his entire career, first as the starting setter for the Men’s Volleyball Team, before working his way up Adamson’s coaching ranks.

In his four years at the helm, the Falcons made the Final Four in his initial two seasons. Season 77 saw the Lady Falcons fall out of the playoff picture relatively early.

After an uplifting opening day match, Adamson have performed inconsistently this season. A straight-sets loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs last Sunday seems to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

As of press time, Menses has not formally resigned, according to Adamson Vice President for Financial Affairs Fr. Maximino Rendino, C.M.

“I don’t want to comment on this because we have not received an official letter of resignation from him,” Rendon said. “Let us wait for his resignation letter.”
