Michael “Hammerfist” Farenas is back on the winning track with an impressive second round knockout victory over Chaiyong Sithsaithong(36-13-4) of Thailand, at the The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Complex, Parañaque City.
The native of Gubat, Sorsogon felt his way in the opening minute of the first round, and connected with crisp jabs and hooks that made the Thai backpedal to close the round. A body shot midway in the 2nd sent Sithsaithong down a right hook that smacked Sithsaithong right in the jaw. The referee had no other recourse but to stop the match at the 1:07 mark of the second round.
Farenas bounces back from his loss late last year, November 14, 2014 to be exact, to unbeaten Puerto Rican prospect, Jose Pedraza, 19-0(12KO). Farenas lost to the Puerto Rican via a unanimous decision (116-112, 117-111, 118-110). Prior to that match, “Hammerfist” won five straight matches due to stoppage.
With the win Farenas, the #8 ranked IBF Super Featherweight, improved his record 40-5-4(31KO).
