NLEX backs Gilas Men 3×3 on ‘Road to LA 2028’

NLEX is lending its full support to Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 as the national squad begins its push toward the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the parent company of NLEX, is fully investing in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas 3×3 program under director Ryan Gregorio, recognizing that the next two years are crucial for accumulating points toward the Summer Games.

“We at MPTC and NLEX have always envisioned helping the national team,” said NLEX governor Ronald Dulatre.

“When SBP presented the opportunity to be part of the Men’s 3×3 program and the dream of making it to the Olympics, we didn’t hesitate. This is about renewing our commitment to 3×3 and supporting Gilas’ journey to Los Angeles.”

In Gregorio’s first campaign with Gilas 3×3, stakeholders from the federation have joined forces to build a solid team for this week’s continental cup.

Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 Men will feature a mix of PBA and UAAP talents, including Jerrick Ahanmisi (Terrafirma), Chris Koon (Magnolia Chicken Timplados), Ralph Cu (Barangay Ginebra San Miguel), and Sean Alter (University of the Philippines).

“PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas, Vice Chairman Alfrancis Chua, and Commissioner Willie Marcial fully supported the inclusion of PBA players in the training pool, and the UAAP likewise extended their backing,” Gregorio said.

Adding depth to the squad are Joseph Eriobu, Javi Gomez de Liano, Dom Fajardo, and Robbie Herndon, who joined practices led by trainers Kirk Collier, Patrick Fran, and JJ Espanola.

“We thank the leadership of the PBA and UAAP for allowing their players to represent the country in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup,” said SBP Executive Director Erika Dy.

“It really takes a community to build a strong team, and we’re grateful for the commitment of everyone who shared their time and expertise during our preparations.”
