Soaring Falcons claim solo fourth, outlast Green Spikers

Coming off an upset win over the NU Bulldogs, the Adamson University Soaring Falcons rattled off their third straight win, overpowering the De La Salle University Green Spikers, 25-22, 16-25, 25-15, 29-27, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Adamson, a team that ended the first round at 2-5, have won four of their five second round matches to fortify their hold on the last Final Four slot.

The Soaring Falcons used their efficiency, limiting themselves to just 21 errors while La Salle surrendered 28.

“Hindi naman po kami masyadong tumigil noong break,” relayed Adamson top scorer Pao Pablico, who tallied 17 points against La Salle.

“Sobrang motivated po namin kasi talaga na makuha ‘yung fourth place kaya all-out po talaga kami mula practice hanggang game,” he added.

George Labang added 16 points, while Mark Alvarez added 15 points, six coming from blocks, to pace the San Marcelino-based program.

Arjay Onia and Raymark Woo led the Green Spikers with 18 points apiece.

The Soaring Falcons (6-6) take on the Far Eastern University Tamaraws (9-2) on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The Green Spikers (4-8) try to keep their Final Four hopes alive when they face the University of the Philippines Maroons (3-9) on Saturday SM Mall of Asia Arena.
