F2 Logistics drubs Generika-Ayala, maintains solo second

Defending champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers made short work of the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers, nabbing a sweep, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12, for their sixth win in the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Cargo Movers leaned on the all-around brilliance of reigning Most Valuable Player MJ Perez. The 2008 Olympian topped all scorers with 18 points off 15 attacks and three blocks.

F2 Logistics also controlled the match splendid serving that stifled the Generika offense to just 26 attacks while keeping tidy 13-error tally.

“We really wanted to finish the first round strong,” said the Venezuelan, Perez. “We’ve been working very hard in practice to improve our chemistry and communication. It was great that we showed that tonight.”

National team stalwart Abigail MaraƱo paced the Cargo Movers with nine points while open hitters Ara Galang and Cha Cruz managed eight markers apiece.

F2 Logistics stayed right on the heels of the undefeated Petron (7-0) with a 6-1 slate to end the first round.

Symone Hayden led the Lifesavers with 11 points while Darlene Ramdin added eight.

Generika-Ayala slumped to a 1-5 card. They take on the Cignal HD Spikers (3-3) on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
