SOURCES: Rivero brothers out of Green Archers

The tumultuous off-season of the De La Salle Green Archers continues

After Ben Mbala’s move to the pros and Aldin Ayo’s transfer to University of Santo Tomas, the Green Archers have decided to kick out brothers Ricci and Prince Rivero, together with Brent Paraiso, from the team. The developing story was confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.

But all sources did not want to go into detail as to why the trio were no longer part of the team, only confirming that they had violated school rules.

“Hindi pa sila nagpra-practice since Coach Louie [Gonzalez] handled the team but they are still enrolled in La Salle,” one of the sources added.

Last January 29, Coach Chot Reyes revealed that Ricci Rivero had secured his clearance from La Salle to join the 23 for 2023 cadet pool.

Ricci, an incoming junior, had his best campaign in the UAAP Men’s Division last season. He posted norms of 14.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals, that paved the way for him to bag the Most Improved Player plum and a spot in the All-UAAP team.

His older brother Prince was the team’s co-skipper last season, averaging 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 14.6 minutes of action. Paraiso, on the other hand, played in 12 games last year.

Tiebreaker Times tried to reach out to the Rivero brothers and Paraiso, but they have yet to respond to calls prior to publishing.

According to the same sources, La Salle will issue a statement regarding this development next week.
