Jason Brickman fills up stat sheet in Mono romp of Formosa

Reigning ASEAN Basketball League Heritage Import of the Week Jason Brickman delivered all the goodies, steering Mono Vampire past the struggling Formosa Dreamers, 93-85, Wednesday evening at Studio 29 in Thailand.

Brickman, a 6-foot Filipino-American floor general, had nine points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in the wire-to-wire victory.

The game itself was not close at all. The Thai club team raced to an early 21-13 lead early in the game and led by as much as 20 points, 67-47, with 2:58 left in the third frame.

Formosa was able to cut the lead down to as low as six points, 91-85, with a few seconds left but Brickman nailed two free throws with 13 ticks remaining to seal the win.

Picking up their third straight win, the Vampire padded its lead on Alab Pilipinas to two full games with a 9-5 record. Formosa fell to a horrid 1-9 slate.

Brickman’s fellow Filipino export Paul Zamar was limited to his season-low 20 minutes, finishing with just four points on 2-for-9 shooting.

Stepping up for Mono is local Chitchai Ananti as he went 4-for-5 from the field for 11 points. Mike Singletary led Mono with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists while 7-foot-4 Spaniard Samuel Deguara also tallied a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two steals and two blocks.

Lenny Daniel paced Formosa with 32 points and 14 rebounds but was forced to commit seven turnovers. Fellow World Import Ronnie Aguilar added 16 points and 12 rebounds but was saddled by foul trouble all throughout the game.
