Zico out for Burn X Flash’s M4 group stage campaign

Filipino head coach John “Zico” Dizon will miss Burn X Flash’s group stage campaign in the M4 World Championships after testing positive for COVID-19, he announced on his Facebook page on Saturday afternoon.

Zico underwent mandatory testing for players and staff when they arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 27th and another round on the 29th and tested negative for both. However, the MPL KH champion coach yielded a positive result yesterday which will force him to sit out the group phase.

“Lahat kami negative (pag-dating) dito nung 27 ng madaling araw tapos (nung) 29th media day nag-test ulit kami ulit, negative,” Zico told Tiebreaker Times.

“Tapos kahapon, three days na since, nag-test kami ulit tapos dun na ako nag-positive,” he added.

The former ONIC PH roamer, though, will be allowed to coach and draft online during the group stage. Zico will go through a five-day quarantine period in his hotel room before getting tested once again.

Burn X Flash will go through a jam-packed Group A that has the likes of Blacklist International (Philippines), Falcon Esports (Myanmar), and Incendio Supremacy (Turkey).

The earliest that the former Nexplay EVOS head coach can rejoin his team is during the first round of the playoffs on January 8, Sunday.
