The storied Aether Main franchise is looking to make its comeback to the league it helped build.
Bannered by original member Yuji “Yuji” Aizawa, EZPORTS will be carrying the Aether banner in the MPL-Philippines Season Seven Main Qualifiers where they will be fighting for the last two spots in the main draw.
Popular streamer and esports pundit Setsuna “Akosi Dogie” Ignacio will also join the squad that has former Execration sidelaner Jeff “S4gitnu” Subang, former Aether Valkyrie tank Jovan “Van” Sayas along with rookies Laurence “Beerus” Canlas and Carlos “Choko” Miguel.
Aether Main will be going up against former MPL-Philippines champion ArkAngel, Grey Esports, ULVL, Laus Playbook Esports, Empire Monarch, World Challenger, and Reech Apex.
The Akosi Dogie-backed Aether Main was part of the inaugural season of the league, dominating the competition en route to its first league title.
The roster composed of Cj “Ribo” Ribo, Mico “Coco” Sampang, Renz “Pein” Reyes, Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-anon, Matthew “666” Mandilag, and Yuji, however, came in terms to a buyout with BREN Esports, joining the Bernard Chong-owned franchise in Season Two.
Akosi Dogie received an offer to be part of BREN Esports but decided to stay with the Aether franchise. Aether Valkyrie, led by Raven “L3bron” Alonzo, Kenneth “Kenji” Villa, and Efphraim “Ejhay” Sambrano, carried the Aether Main banner in Season Two.
The new-look squad finished the regular season in third place. They then had a forgettable outing in the playoffs which resulted in 5th-6th place finish.
Come Season Three, the team changed its name to Aether Atlas – marking the end of Aether Main’s time in the professional league.
