Action PH punched its ticket to the winner’s bracket of the VALORANT Champions Tour Asia-Pacific Stage 1: Challengers play-in after sweeping Team Big BAAM of Vietnam, 2-0, on Thursday night.
The bronze medalist of the Philippines Challengers showed great mastery of Ascent against the Vietnamese, putting on a 13-4 show to seal the series-clinching Game Two.
After dropping the first two rounds, APH quickly adjusted and answered back with a 10-0 run to end the half at 10-2. They eventually closed Map Two by riding George “Georggyyy” Lachica’s 22 kills and 356 Average Combat Score as Jett and Jon “sirodeathyo” Piga’s 19-kill performance playing Sova.
Team Big BAAM was on the verge of wrapping up Game One early with a commanding 11-5 lead in Icebox. Unfortunately for them, Action PH had different plans in mind. The Filipinos sparked a 6-0 run to tie the game at 11-all following a beautiful Georggyy four-kill to force the tiebreaker.
In overtime, APH proved to be too much for BAAM as sirodeathyo secured a triple kill that gave them the match-point advantage. It was followed by a double kill from in Round 26 that sealed the come from behind win, 14-12. Georggyyy exploded for 31 kills and 363 ACS.
ABATMAN, who played Killyjoy in both matches, finished with a combined total of 31 kills in his Action PH debut. He filled in for Matthew “modeskiiii” Bautista at the Sentinal spot for APH.
Action also debuted ABATMAN who played Killjoy in both matches. He finished with a combined 31 kills and 210 ACS in two games.
The team will take on the winner of the ONIC-Full Sense match on Saturday.
