The Philippine national taekwondo team was off to a good start as the squad reclaimed its the women’s team recognized poomsae gold in the Southeast Asian Games.
The trio of Aidaine Laxa, Jocel Lyn Ninobla, and Nicole Labayne ended a 12-year wait on Friday at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The Filipinas topped the competition with a score of 108.5, 0.5 points ahead of Malaysia who finished second, to take the title for the first time since now head coach of the poomsae squad Rani Ortega, Camille Alarilla, and Janice Lagman won the 2011 Games in Cibubur, Indonesia.
Thailand and Vietnam bagged the two bronzes with identical 107.5 points.
