Jim Claude Manangquil of SanMan Boxing Promotions has high hopes for its first foray in Manila as they stage “Brawl in the Mall” happening this Saturday, April 30, at the Makati Cinema Square in Makati City.
Marqueed with a World Boxing Federation (WBF) International bantamweight championship fight between Mike Angelo Plania (9-0, 4 KOs) and Lorence Rosas (5-0-2, 2 KOs), Manangquil promises an exciting fight between the two young and undefeated 118-pounders.
“Huwag kayo kukurap baka hindi matapos ang mga rounds, may isang babagsak sa lona,” SanMan Boxing CEO told Tiebreaker Times during their press conference, which was followed by the weigh-ins early Friday afternoon at the Tramway Buffet and Restaurant in Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
Undefeated prospect John Vincent Moralde (15-0, 7 KOs) will co-headline the card to face Mandaluyong City’s Jimmy Aducal (8-5-2, 6 KOs) in a fight scheduled for ten rounds. A win by Moralde will open an opportunity for an overseas fight, according to Manangquil.
For the soft-spoken Moralde, the fight will not only propel his name higher into the rankings, but will also help his family improve their livelihood, “motivation ko lagi yung pamilya ko.” He added that, “gusto ko silang bigyan ng magandang buhay at para sa sarili ko na para kahit papaano, magkaroon ako ng pangalan sa larangan ng boxing.”
His opponent, on the other hand, wants nothing less but a knockout to spoil Moralde’s return to the Metro since 2014 where he defeated Roman Canto via majority decision.
“Sana knockout para hindi na umabot sa mga kamay ng judge,” Aducal simply said when asked on his plans for the fight.
Also in the card is mixed martial arts champion Jenel Lausa, who will be making his sixth appearance as a professional boxer. He is set to take on Roy Lagrada in an eight round fight at a 123 pounds.
