Another superstar will not suit up for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic is reportedly set to miss the global meet, citing the need to rest after the grind he went through this season.
The development was reported by Mozzart Sports.
Serbia head coach Svetislav Pesic personally talked to Jokic, trying to persuade him to avenge the quarterfinals they had four years ago in China.
However, the 6-foot-10 playmaking big man stood firm with his decision.
Jokic played for Serbia in Eurobasket and the European Qualifiers.
During the qualifiers, he averaged 26.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in two games played.
The report also stated that Vasilije Micic and Nikola Kalinc are also skipping the tournament.
Serbia is slotted in Group B, along with Puerto Rico, China, and South Sudan.
Group B games will be played at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
