DASMARIÑAS, CAVITE – Chery Tiggo powered past a determined Galeries Tower squad, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, to secure a spot in the 2025 PVL On Tour quarterfinals on Saturday at the Dasmariñas Arena here.
With the win, the Crossovers now move on to the knockout quarterfinals, where they will face the rising Nxled Chameleons on August 9 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
“Yung loss namin sa ZUS, yun na yon. We were humbled by that loss. Nandun na yung opportunity pero yung gusto naming manalo, nasa mga 70-percent pero si ZUS, 100-percent na gustong manalo,” said Chery Tiggo head coach Norman Miguel, reflecting on what fueled their bounce-back win.
“Talagang hindi binigay sa’min yung laro. Ang daming mga lessons na kailangang matutunan.”
The Crossovers had a shot at clinching an outright quarterfinal berth last Tuesday in Candon, Ilocos Sur, but faltered in five sets against the ZUS Thunderbelles.
This time, Chery Tiggo showed poise and control, particularly in the third set where they overcame a 15-17 deficit.
Veterans Ara Galang, Cess Robles, and Shaya Adorador took charge to seal the sweep.
Robles led the charge with 13 points, nine digs, and five receptions. Galang followed closely with 11 points and 11 digs, while Adorador added seven points in just two sets of action. Middle blocker
Imee Hernandez also made her presence felt, tallying seven points, including two blocks.
Meanwhile, Galeries Tower closed out its PVL On Tour campaign winless in six games.
Second overall pick Jean Asis and outside hitter Jewel Encarnacion both scored 13 points to lead the Highrisers in their final outing.
