PFL: Bailey, Nogueda score as Stallion Laguna blanks Mendiola ’91


Stallion Laguna made a winning start to its 2022-2023 Philippines Football League season after overcoming Mendiola 1991, 2-0, Monday evening, at the PFF National Training Centre in Cavite.

After a goalless first half, Stallion Laguna finally broke the deadlock in the 47th minute.

Kainoa Bailey found space in the Mendiola 1991 box and she shot past goalkeeper Henri Bandeken to give his side the lead.

Stallion Laguna then found the insurance goal in the dying moments of the game.

Substitute Rafa Nogueda headed home Justin Pena’s corner kick in the 87th minute to all but seal the victory for Stallion Laguna.

The result means that Stallion Laguna clinches three points and sits in 2nd place in the standings due to a superior goal difference of +2.

Stallion Laguna looks to build on this win when it takes on Maharlika Manila on August 15, 2022, at 4:00 PM.

On the other hand, Mendiola hopes to bounce back against defending champions United City on August 14, 2022, at 4:00 PM.

Rizal Memorial will host both matches.
