One Taguig shuts out Aguilas-UMak, climbs to third in PFL

By: Icko de Guzman

One Taguig secured back-to-back victories after shutting out Aguilas-UMak, 3–0, in Sunday’s Philippines Football League action at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The win lifted Taguig to third place with six points, trailing only leaders Kaya-Iloilo and second-placed Manila Digger.

It was a cagey opening until Taguig broke through in the 32nd minute via a Miggy Clarino own goal.

Patrick Reichelt slipped a clever through ball to Andres Aldeguer, who attempted to cut it back to Goldeson Cassemiro. Clarino intercepted but inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

Reichelt played a key role again in Taguig’s second goal, pouncing on a defensive lapse by Guillermo Amarilla.

The veteran forward went one-on-one with keeper Teimoshii Shiraoka, but instead of taking the shot himself, unselfishly squared the ball to Isaac Agyemang, who slotted home with ease.

Aguilas nearly pulled one back shortly after halftime when Mathew Custodio fouled Mouzinho Barreto Da Lima inside the box.

Former Taguig midfielder Arnel Amita stepped up for the penalty, but Milos Cupic produced a brilliant save to preserve the 2–0 cushion.

Reichelt then sealed the victory in second-half stoppage time, calmly converting from the spot after Shiraoka brought down Aldeguer in the box.

The match turned heated in the 69th minute when Isaac Anoh’s foul on Magnus Ravn saw both men sent off with straight red cards.
