RSG Philippines once again emerges as the win streak busters in MPL Philippines Season 13, halting ONIC Philippines’ seven consecutive victories.
“We really love breaking win streaks,” RSG head coach Brian “Panda” Lim expressed, referring to RSG once again halting the season’s longest win streak.
In Season 12, ECHO was on the brink of history with a league-record 12-game win streak before RSG dealt them a stinging defeat, tying the Orcas with Blacklist International for the longest win streak in MPL PH at 11.
“Just like how we ended the win streak of ECHO last season, before our match today, I told my players that we’re not going to hand them the victory they desire because they have momentum. They are ready,” Panda shared on their approach to today’s match after ONIC claimed they aimed for a 13-game winning streak.
“They are strong pero mas malakas tayo kapag pantay yung draft tapos walang lason.”
Facing teams on hot streaks adds more reasons for Panda to push his squad to perform at their fullest and seize the win.
“It just puts extra motivation for me when the opponent is on a very strong win streak goal tapos kami yung team with the great potential to break that. Siyempre it feels like an achievement,” he said.
“Kaya masarap putulin yung winstreak ng kalaban.”
According to Panda, the win against ECHO in Season 12 was something the team needed to grow further and make a deep run in the playoffs.
“That was the momentum boost they needed to feel like they must work much harder and truly pursue the championship dream they always aim for. It really adds to the motivation, happiness, and momentum,” he added.
And it’s the same story against ONIC this season.
“Winning against ONIC was not just for ONIC, pero it’s part of our playoffs preparation,” Panda emphasized.
“Kahit sino kalaban namin in the future we really want to win with our gameplay.”
