Pacharee Sangmuang set to join Power Smashers

The Power Smashers will have a beefed-up line-up for the Open Conference

Thailand’s former national team captain Pacharee Sangmuang will suit-up for the Nes Pamilar-mentored Power Smashers in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

Sangmuang, 39, was issued an Alien Certificate of Residence three years ago and has been a resident of the country since 2014.

“She has been living in the country since 2014 and she has an ACR to back that up. She goes back to Thailand from time to time but most of the year, she’s here,” Pamilar shared.

The 5-foot-11 spiker will be the second foreign player to suit-up for the V-League this season, as former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagle Amy Ahomiro, a New Zealand national, played for the Perlas Lady Spikers last conference.

Sangmuang played for the Letran Lady Knights in 2012, the Cagayan Volley Rising Suns in 2013 and 2014, and the Adamson University Lady Falcons in 2014, bringing a wealth of experience with her.

“We need a leader like Pacharee in our team because all our players are still young,” Pamilar added, as the core of Regine Arocha, Vira Guillema, Alina Bicar, Kat Villegas, Jovelyn Prado and Joyce Sta. Rita are set to return.

The Power Smashers were eliminated by eventual-champions Pocari Sweat during the semifinals. They entered the playoffs as the second seed.
