ONIC Philippines made quick work of AP.Bren, pulling off a 2-0 sweep for their second straight victory in the MPL Philippines Season 16 on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.
With the win, ONIC seized the top spot in the standings, riding back-to-back sweeps for a flawless 2-0 start.
More than the victory, ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin expressed his delight in seeing his wards play pressure-free, especially after a disappointing MSC 2025 campaign.
“Maganda yung performance ng team. Rinig na rinig na enjoy nila yung laro kanina and maganda yung mga connection so overall, I’m very happy naman,” said Ynot on the team’s performance against AP.Bren.
Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez (Phoveus) opened the series in explosive fashion. He secured back-to-back double kills during the first two turtle fights to post a 4-0-1 KDA and help ONIC build a 3,800-gold lead by the 5th minute.
The 20-year-old EXP laner never let up, capping ONIC’s domination with a flawless 8-0-5 KDA in their 11-minute Game 1 win.
In Game 2, AP.Bren held a slim 1,500 net worth lead until Duane “Kelra” Pilla (Harith) scored a double kill during the 13th-minute Lord fight to swing the momentum in ONIC’s favor.
Kelra then picked up another kill in the midlane a minute later to complete the sweep.
Meanwhile, AP.Bren (1-2) suffered their second straight loss after opening Week 1 with a victory, dropping them to sixth place in the standings.
