The Inter-Agency Task Force has approved the request of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission to prioritize the vaccination of national athletes.
During the press briefing of Malacanang Palace on Friday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that all athletes that are set to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 31st Southeast Asian Games will be moved up to the A4 list.
“The IATF approved the Technical Working Group’s recommendation to the Interim National Immunization Technical Advisory Group to prioritize the vaccination of athletes, coaches, delegates, and officials bound for the Tokyo Olympics and the Southeast Asian Games,” he said.
Also approved by the IATF is the training of the national sports associations for the SEA Games.
NSAs, under the guidance of both the POC and PSC, have been partnering up with local government units to host their training bubbles.
The guidelines of the trainings will be given by the POC, PSC, Department of Health, and the Games and Amusements Board.
The Vietnam SEA Games Organizing Committee earlier announced a “no vaccine, no participation” stance for the Hanoi Games.
Currently, only Hidilyn Diaz and Eumir Marcial have been inoculated for the Tokyo-bound contingent.
