Blacklist International shrugged off its rare back-to-back losses at the hands of Falcon Esports, in the group stage of the M4 World Championship last Tuesday night at the Bali United Studio.
The Tier One-backed squad was already on its way to sweeping Group A until the Myanmar-based squad crashed the party late and turned back the reigning world champs to force a three-way tie.
Falcon Esports then repeated over Blacklist International in the round robin tiebreaker to clinch the top spot in the pool. The latter managed to clinch the final upper bracket spot in the group by edging Incendio Supremacy.
According to Blacklist International head coach Kristoffer “Bon Chan” Ricaplaza and team captain Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna, losing to Falcon Esports hardly affected them and noted that getting the upper bracket spot is the team’s goal in the group stage.
“I don’t really mind losing to Falcon as long as we secure the upper bracket,” said the three-time MPL PH champion coach.
“Just like coach and Wise said, as long as we are in the upper bracket we are super good and I think the two losses will contribute a lot of experience moving towards the upper bracket,” added the reigning MPL PH MVP.
Falcon Esports dominated Blacklist International in the group stage, taking a 16-3 victory in just 16 minutes of action before completing a lopsided 21-10 win in 14 minutes in the tiebreaker. The Burmese squad ended the group stage on a blazing four-game winning streak en route to a 4-1 card.
Meanwhile, Blacklist International recorded a total of three wins and two losses in the group stage.
The Filipino squad will go up against the top-ranked team of Group D in the playoffs, which will begin on Saturday.
