Hungry to extend their streak, National University entered the clay courts with a drive to once again deliver a swift defeat for their opponents. Luckily for the NU tennisters and sadly for the DLSU Green Tennisters, fate delivered just that as the Taft-based squad was swept in a similar fashion to their lady counterparts who went up against the NU Lady Bulldogs the day before, ending in a 5-0 finish.
With all cannons being fired, the NU tennisters effectively demolished the defenses put by the Green Tennisters. In the singles category, LA Cañizares of DLSU was the first to fall against NU’s Fritz Verdad who delivered a swift 6-1, 6-3 victory for NU. The match of DLSU’s Kyle Parpan and Leander Lazaro also ended in an NU victory although it was a tenser matchup which ended 6-4, 6-2. Capping off the singles matches for the day was DLSU’s Qoqo Allian and NU’s Dheo Talatayod who both put a good fight that eventually resulted in the all-too-familiar NU victory, 6-3, 6-2.
The doubles category suffered a similar fate as NU also delivered a beat down through the hands of Al Michael Madrio and Jigo Peña against DLSU’s Ernesto Pantua and Albert Villamor who fell in a three-set match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. The thrashing continued at the hands of Francis Alcantara and John Accion who fought against DLSU’s Dale Gorospe and Akio Sy in a match that ended 7-5, 6-2.
