Allen Durham and Meralco planning to finish off Star in Game 3

The Meralco Bolts will look to finish what they started.

After a masterful 98-74 showing versus the Star Hotshots in Game Two on Tuesday night at the Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna, a possible trip to the 2017 Governor’s Cup Finals looms on the horizon for the Orangemen.

The Bolts — the reigning runners-up in the season-ending conference — are now ahead with a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series, which means a win in Game Three this Thursday will formalize their entry into the title series.

And with that, Allen Durham and the rest of the team have their sights locked locking their sights on one thing: finishing off the Hotshots.2017-pba-governors-cup-semifinals-game-2-meralco-def-star-jimmy-alapag Allen Durham and Meralco planning to finish off Star in Game 3 Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

“We just got to finish them off early,” said the 29-year-old American after the match, who is averaging 20.5 points and 24.5 rebounds in the series. “We got to make sure we handle business on Thursday.

“That’s the plan (sweep)… so we’ll see.”

Meralco showed consistent play throughout Game Two, showing why they are the top-seeded team. Moreover, for the first time this playoffs, the Bolts started strong and had an even stronger finishing kick, shooting 53 percent from the floor while knocking down 14 triples.

The win is clearly a huge morale-booster for Game Three. But the versatile reinforcement warned that they could not be too confident as they go for the jugular, as the Hotshots will surely fight back to save their season.

“We can’t get too excited because we’re sure Star is going to come back and they’re fighting for their season.”
