Defending champion Office of the President opened its title-retention campaign on a winning note, while Meralco, the Department of Finance, and the Social Security System also scored victories as the 2026 ZUS Coffee Corpo Ball kicked off its second season on Saturday at the Meralco Gym.
Meralco survived a late rally from the Department of Agrarian Reform to secure a 90-86 victory in the opening game of the tournament, which features 10 teams from the government and private sectors.
Mark Francisco led Meralco with 20 points, while Jhon Cañete added 12. Jerico Sevillano paced DAR with 22 points in the losing effort.
DOF followed with a dominant 98-68 rout of PLDT, with John Magdaluyo leading the Finance squad with 14 points and five rebounds. Carl Carandang finished with 15 points and seven assists for PLDT.
OP then began its bid for back-to-back titles with a hard-fought 75-72 win over Rise Energy Pop.
Francis Camacho paced the defending champions with 16 points, knocking down three of his four attempts from beyond the arc. Andrei Romero led Rise Energy Pop with 14 points and four assists.
SSS capped the opening day’s action with an 84-73 triumph over BDO, powered by an impressive triple-double from former professional player Bonbon Custodio, who posted 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Joseph Navarro led BDO with 14 points.
Building on the success of its inaugural season, Corpo Ball returns with an expanded 10-team field that includes DOF, BDO, Rise Energy Pop-Tanduay, SSS, Meralco, DAR, Smart, the Senate of the Philippines, and PLDT alongside defending champion OP.
Presented by ZUS Coffee, the league is supported by Smart, Shakey’s, Anta, Leon Lab, and Islander. All games are livestreamed through Smart Sports and PusoP.com.
Founded by Jude Roque, who also serves as league commissioner, Corpo Ball aims to foster teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy competition among employees through basketball.
